The truckers have called off the strike and there should not be an issue with the fuel. The centre has negotiated with the truck drivers and the issue has been resolved.
Last night serpentine ques were seen at the petrol bunks some of them have closed the shops.
The nationwide protest of truck drivers has been called off after the government gave assurance that the new law concerning hit-and-run cases will be implemented after discussion with members of the truckers’ body All India Motor Transport Association (AIMTC).
Based on the assurance and the appeal by the government the truckers called off the stir.
“We discussed with All India Motor Transport Congress representatives, govt want to say that the new rule has not been implemented yet, we all want to say that before implementing Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 106/2.
we will have a discussion with All India Motor Transport Congress representatives and then only we will take a decision”, said Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla.
The protest was over Section 106(2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita or BNS which had provisions for strict penalty in hit-and-run cases.
