C Narayan Reddy is one of the great poets and writers who is remembered for his contribution to Telugu literature. He was the recipient of the Gyanpeet Award.
His songs are still remembered and was very close to the then-CM NTR. He worked with NTR for films and also was instrumental in establishing Telugu Vishwa Vidyalam in Nampally.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao termed late Dr C Narayan Reddy as a literary icon who earned global acclaim for Telugu literature. He paid tribute to the esteemed poet and literary figure on the eve of his 92nd birth anniversary, celebrated on Saturday.
In a statement, the Chief Minister said Singireddy Narayana Reddy, who is affectionately called as CiNaRe, received the prestigious ‘Gynanpeeth Award’ for his scholarly brilliance and brought recognition to the Telugu language on the international stage.
He hailed CiNaRe as a versatile poet, demonstrating mastery in diverse genres of Telugu language literature, including poetry, lyrical verse, musical compositions, and ghazals.
Reddy was instrumental in building the Telugu Velugual Moorthi Nikshiptha Pranganam on Tankbund. On his suggestion, the statues of great poets were installed on the Tankbund on the other side facing the Buddha statue.
