Protests for Imran Khan Intensified

Imran Khan will be presented in the New Police Guest House in Islamabad, Pakistan today, a day after he was dramatically arrested from the Islamabad High Court premises.

Pakistan media reported that he is likely to remain in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) custody for 4-5 days.

Following the arrest, protests intensified in several cities in Pakistan including Quetta, Karachi, Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Lahore, killing at least one person and injuring dozens.

In unprecedented scenes, PTI party supporters had stormed the Pakistan Army headquarters in Rawalpindi and the Corps Commander’s residence in Lahore, according to local media reports.

The former cricketer,Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman was arrested while he was present at the Islamabad HC premises for the hearing of the Al qadir trust case in which Khan and his wife have been accused of receiving “billions of rupees from a real estate firm for legalising a laundered amount of Rs 50 billion.
