For the first time, the Congress leaders are reciting Hanuman Chalisa here in the Karnataka elections. PM Modi the war head for the BJP has already given a call to the voters to give the Jai Bajrangbali slogan before casting the vote.
As many as 5,31,33,054 voters would cast their votes in 58,545 polling stations across the State. The counting of votes will be taken-up on 13nth.
An amount of Rs 4oo crore has been seized by the police which was being transported illegally meant for distribution to the voters by the political parties.
At the polling booths, an indelible mark will be applied on the left-hand forefinger and voters have been asked to carry Election Photo Identity (EPIC) card or alternative documents approved by Election Commission such as Aadhar card, MGNREGA card, bank and post offices pass books with photographs, driving license, PAN card, Indian passport, pension document with photograph, and others.
In the fray are 2,615 candidates belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC), Janata Dal Secular (JDS), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Communist Party of India (Marxists) among other registered unrecognized political parties including independents.
There are 2,430 male nominees, 184 female nominees, and lone transgender contesting in the election.
Among the voters, 2,66,82,156 are male voters and 2,63,98,483 are female voters who are general voters and 47,488 are service voters and of them 45, 897 are male service voters and 1,591 are female service voters.
Election Commission officials stated that 4,92,85,247 voters have been distributed voter slips out of 5,30,85,566 voters with a coverage percentage of 95 percent in the State.
