In the wake of crop damages due to untimely rains in Choppadandi and Karimnagar rural mandal of Karimnagar district and other parts of the state, Chief Minister Sri K Chandrashekhar Rao directed Chief Secretary Smt Santhi Kumari to take up the assessment of crop damages. CM KCR asked Chief Secretary speak to District Collectors and get detailed reports on crop damages.
The districts experienced rain accompanied by huge gales, lightning and thunderbolts on Sunday. Trees in several places were uprooted. Rain damaged the paddy crop stocked on the ground at several farms.
They were about to be sold to Rythu Bharosa Kendras. Standing crops were also damaged.
Mango farmers are also worried over the rain. The size of mango may not increase due to the untimely rain. Mangoes may attract pests due to the rain, resulting in huge losses to farmers. Many mangoes fell to the ground.
The untimely rains are expected for some more days in the Telugu states. The crop damage occurred in Andhra Pradesh also.
