After the approval of the Central Government Cabinet proposed by the Government of India, the new education policy has come into effect in the country after 36 years.
The cabinet has given the green signal for the new education policy 2023. After 34 years, there has been a change in education policy.
The salient points of the new education policy are-
*Five years basic*
1. Nursery @ 4 years
2. Jr KG @ 5 years
3. Sr KG @ 6 years
4.Std 1st @ 7 years
5. Std 2nd @ 8 years
*Three years preparatory*
6. Std 3rd @ 9 years
7. Std 4th @ 10 years
8. Std 5th @11 years
*Three years in between*
9. Std 6th @ 12 years
10. Std 7th @ 13 years
11. Std 8th @ 14 years
*Four year secondary school*
12.Std 9th @ 15 years
13.Std SSC @ 16 years
14.Std FYJC @ 17 years
15.STD SYJC @18 Yrs
*Special Features:*
*Board Exams will be held only in 12th class!*
will be closed MPhil, college degree of 4 years!
*10th board is no longer there*
Now till 5th students will be taught only mother tongue, local language and national language!
The rest of the subjects will be taught in English. Though it is not clear what is meant by National Language.
Earlier it was compulsory to give 10th board exam, which will not happen now.
Exams will be held in the semesters from ninth to twelfth class!
5+3+3+4 Schooling will be taught under the formula.
*Where the college degree will be 3 and 4 years.* –
– That means certificate in
– first year of graduation,
– diploma in second year,
– degree in third year.
3-year degree for those who do not want to take higher education! On the other hand, higher education students have to do a 4-year degree! 4-year degree holders can do MA in one year.
MA students can now go directly to PhD.
Students can do other courses in between!
By 2035 the proportion of total enrollment in higher education will be 50 per cent.
On the other hand, under the new education policy, if a student wants to take another course in the middle of one course, he can take a break from the first course for a limited time and take the second course.
Many reforms have been made in higher education.
Reforms include graded academic, administrative and financial autonomy etc! In addition, e-courses will be launched in regional languages! Virtual lab will be created.
A National Educational Scientific Forum (NETF) will be launched! There are 45 thousand colleges in the country.
There will be uniform rules for all public, private, reputed institutions.
