The ancient temple of Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy in Vontimitta of YSR Kadapa district geared up to host Sri Ramanavami festivities including annual brahmotsavams which will commence with Dhwajarohanam on March 31.
On Thursday, the ritual of prelude, Ankurarpanam was performed in a religious way as per the tenets of Pancharatra Agama. Deputy EO Sri Natesh Babu and others were present.
Later in the evening, in connection with Maha Kavi Potana Jayanti, Kavi sammelanam was organised by All Projects Wing of TTD with scholars from various genres of Telugu literature which mused the audience.
The legends says that the construction of this ancient temple of Sri Rama was commenced in 14th century and completed in 17th century.
Available inscriptions says that the temple construction was commenced by Bukkarayalu in 1356AD. Later Vijayanagara rulers built the Antaralam, outer prakaram, Gopuram, Ranga Mandapam etc.
On March 31, Dhwajarohanam takes place in Vrishabha Lagnam between 8am and
9am.
