A Memorandum of understanding between CSIR-Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad and University of Ladakh was signed this morning i.e. on 7th February 2023. During the MoU signing ceremony professor SK Mehta, Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Professor Ashok Sharma, Registrar and Dr Riyaz M K Khan, Senior Faculty from University of Ladakh were present.
While introducing UoL, Prof Mehta outlined a few of the important areas of research in Ladakh. He emphasised on the need of joint study on climate change, energy, biodiversity, rare medicine plants, introduction of green-house etc. Under the MoU, the students of Ladakh, specially from department of Chemistry and other related Departments would undertake their project work at CSIR-IICT. Their exposure to state of the art analytical, R&D facilities, infrastructure and other research environment at IICT would enhance their skill sets and employability.
Under this MoU, students of University of Ladakh will be visiting IICT, Hyderabad for short duration of 3 months based on the Government of India scheme for North-east, J&K and Ladakh regions.
Dr. D. Srinivasa Reddy, Director, CSIR-IICT said that our scientists would jointly work with faculty of UoL on deployable IICT technologies to improve the livelihood opportunities of local people of Ladakh region.
