The bypoll fight in Telangana has heated up with just one day to go and the four TRS MLAs alleging that three men linked to the BJP tried to poach them by offering them Rs 100 crore.

Over 60% of the electorate in Munugode reportedly belongs to backward classes.For the BJP, it is a must-win in Munugode, as it will reflect the people’s changing mood towards it.

For the ruling TRS, it is an opportunity to prove its supremacy and hold over the state at a time when it is being transformed into a national party.

A defeat in the by-poll will turn all the plans of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to play a bigger role in national politics.

The Hyderabad police are utilizing its moles planted in political parties to sniff out the money transfers or transactions to different candidates or workers of political parties in Telangana and on inputs generated by the local police teams.

Campaigning for the high-stakes poll has been marred by cash seizures and allegations of election code violations. Interestingly the police did not make any seizures from the TRS.

There is a talk that both the BJP and TRS could easily spend about a thousand crores for winning this election. Congress party is lagging behind with a paucity of funds.
