Munugode is going to be the costliest election in the history of Telangana. Huzurabad also was a costly election where the BJP won finally. But this is going to be a tug-of-war between the BJP and the TRS.
The money is directly landing in the accounts of voters or the head of the family directly. Now the latest is that each family is being delivered a tola of gold by the political party.
Both the BJP and the TRS believe that this is going to be the benchmark for the next elections.
Rajagopal Reddy, who defected from the Congress to the BJP on August 21, is the obvious choice of the saffron party for the bypoll to Munugode, while the Congress has named Palwai Sravanthi, daughter of former minister late Palwai Goverdhan Reddy, as its candidate on September 9.
Soon after the announcement of the by-poll schedule, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay dropped his plan to take out the fifth phase of padayatra from October 15. The party has decided to intensify the campaign by inviting top national leaders to Munugode to address a few public meetings.
Beer and Biryani are overflowing in the constituency. Dussera was celebrated with all happiness and now voters are getting ready for Diwali. There is a dawat everyday on a daily basis by one party or the other.
People are divided into groups by the politial parties and are taken to different destinations for paying them and luring them to vote for them. The poor people are enjoying the election here.
