Gold Crown for  Bhadrakali by KCR

An 11.7 kg gold crown, worth over Rs. 3 crores will be presented by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to the Goddess Bhadrakali at Warangal, on the occasion of Durga Navratri.

The offering is towards fulfilment of KCRs vow, which he had made during the agitation for a separate Telangana.

The headdress was commissioned by the Telangana government from a leading Hyderabad jeweller and KCR inspected the finished crown himself last night along with some law makers and also his wife.

It may be mentioned here that Chandrashekar Rao had promised to offer gold jewellery to various gods if Telangana was achieved during the statehood movement. After becoming the Chief Minister, Chandrashekar Rao approved Rs 5.59 crore from the Common Good Fund (CGF) of the Endowments Department to make gold ornaments for Gods. Rs 5 crore has been allotted to make ornaments for Lord Venkateswara and Rs 59 lakh was earmarked for other deities.

 The other promises he made were a golden crown to the presiding deity of Bhadrakali Ammavaru at the historic Bhadrakali temple. Towards this promise, the Chief Minister has earmarked Rs 57 lakh for preparing a 2-kg Bangaru Kireetam (golden crown).

 KCR also ordered 20 to 25 gram Bangaru Meesalu (gold moustache) for the Kuravi Veerabhadra Swamy temple in Warangal which costs about Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000, a Mukku Pudaka (golden nose ring) weighing 10-15 gram worth Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 for Kanaka Durga Ammavaru of Vijayawada and another gold nose ring for Padmavathi Ammavaru, Tiruchannuru, Tirupati, weighing 10-15 gram, costing about Rs 30,000 to Rs 45,000.

 The ornaments are being made in consultation with Vedic pundits, according to sources. The Chief Minister will pay obeisance to all Gods along with family members. The same is being supervised by the Government advisor Ramana Chary.
