K.T.Rama Rao, Hon’ble Minister for MA&UD honoured 80 Women who are working in the field of Journalism on the occasion of International Women’s Day at Taj Krishna today. Smt. P.Sabitha Indra Reddy, Hon’ble Minister for Education, Smt. Satyavathi Rathod, Hon’ble Minister for ST Welfare, Women and Child Welfare and Sri Arvind Kumar,IAS, Special Chief Secretary, MA&UD and Commissioner, I&PR were also present and honoured Women Journalists.
Speaking on this occasion Minister Sri K.T.Rama Rao said that Telangana State is making great strides in all round development empowering women in all the fields. Special emphasis given in the field of Medical and Education as a result it is seen steep drop in infant and maternal mortality rates in the State. The State occupies 3rd rank in the country in providing medical facilities, this was revealed by the statistics released by the Central Government. To instill confidence among the Women the State Government is implementing Shaadi Mubarak, Kalyana Lakshmi Schemes which reached to nearly 10 lakhs beneficiaries, this also brought down child marriages in the state drastically. Telangana Government is also introduced gender sensitive curriculum in the schools. Apart from this the Government is also providing nutritious food to 17 lakhs pregnant Women and Children under Arogya Lakshmi scheme.
Smt. Sabitha Indra Reddy, Hon’ble Minister for Education said that as a gift to the Women in connection with International Women’s Day the Government today in its Budget Session in Assembly announced first of its kind “WOMEN UNIVERSITY” in the State and allocated 100 Crores for establishing the University.
Smt. Satyavathi Rathod, Hon’ble Minister for ST Welfare, Women and Child Welfare thanked the Chief Minister for making large-scale allocations for Women and Child Welfare in the state budget introduced today. She recalled that after the introduction of SHE-TEAMS in the state, women had the courage to return home safely in the middle of the night from their jobs.
