Cyber Crimes growing says Stephen Raveendra

The Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad Shri Stephen Raveendra, IPS., said “cybercrimes are growing at a higher pace and almost grew by 200%. He said the vulnerable section of the society like Ladies, Children & senior citizens are falling victim and these cyber crimes taking place only because of ignorance and no one is spared from these cyber-attacks. If the public does simple checks before providing all the data on telephone calls and clicking links from unknown sources, most of the cybercrimes can be avoided. He said creating awareness is key to reduction in cybercrimes and as part of the awareness campaign, the winners’ videos will be played in theatres apart from going to colleges and schools in creating awareness about cybercrimes.

Speaking on the occasion, DCP Crimes Shri Shingenavar Kalmeshwar said that the department is addressing various issues faced by the public and cautioned the public not to fall for risky, high yield returns schemes and not to download doubtful apps indiscriminately and share the data – which may get into the wrong hands.

Mr. Krishna Yedula, Secretary-General SCSC said that Dilsey (DIgital Literacy to SEcure Youth sessions are becoming a big hit with schools and already covered more than 12,000 students on digital literacy.

He also has explained that on most Saturdays, Doordarshan is telecasting a dial-in program on Cyber Crimes in the mornings, and Cyberabad Police and SCSC cyber security experts are answering public queries, for the issues faced by the common man.
