We are hearing for the first time that the movie of Mohanlal has collected Rs 100 crore by day one of its release. This is Marakkar about a Sea lion. There were no announcements of this kind earlier for any of the movies.
The theatre collections were reported as 100 crore, but one gave the figures as 100 crore for the advance booking of tickets. But the trailer of the movie created a huge buzz in recent times.
There is also a talk that the producers give inflated figures of collections, to show that there is craze for that particular film . All the collection figures are not real. Some movies make losses but they will be declared as hits in the initial stage.
Priyadarshan the director has made this visual spectacle with a grandeur that has never been seen before in Malayalam cinema. The historical drama, which is of a duration of just over 3 hours, has a big star cast and is engaging. The visuals and the special effects are spectacular.
Mohanlal steals the show here with his brilliant performance, convincingly presenting the legendary figure from Kerala’s history. It’s a casting coup of sorts, with Pranav Mohanlal playing the younger version of the character with lots of energy, thereby providing the perfect platform for his father to take over the rest of the movie.
Among the rest of the cast, Arjun Sarja, Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Siddique, Hareesh Peradi, Nedumudi Venu and Jay J Jakkrit excels.
The movie takes Malayalam cinema to an altogether different level with its grand canvas and excellent making. It is a must-watch movie.
