CYBER CRIME AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS CONDUCTED BY CYBERABAD POLICE

The widespread use of electronic devices that enable Internet access has increased the exposure of individuals and organizations to Cyber Crimes. In the recent years there has been a massive jump in the number of cases registered under Cyber Crime and Telangana contributed to over 10 per cent of cybercrimes reported across the country during 2020, stated in a report released by the NCRB

Most of the victims are falling prey to Cyber crooks due to lack of awareness and their poor knowledge on digital technology. Prevention is the first step in countering Cyber Crimes. The primary tool for such prevention is undoubtedly education aimed at establishing greater awareness and knowledge regarding cybercrime in the society. As part of this Cyberabad Commissionerate has led many Awareness programmes.

Cyber Crime Police Station has been actively conducting awareness programmes at Educational Institutions, Corporate Offices, Shopping malls, Theaters, Bus stations, village main x roads etc. Posters(Memes) stating the different Cyber Crime Modus Operandi were posted and circulated on Official accounts of Cyber Crime PS, Cyberabad on Social medial platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Youtube etc. Awareness Videos featuring popular personalities and also Police officers were recorded and circulated through social media accounts.

Cyber Crime PS, Cyberabad in coordination with SCSC has been conducting awareness sessions at corporate offices, also conducted interviews with investigating officers regarding Cyber Crime Modus Operandi. One to One sessions were conducted at FM Radio stations by Investigating Officers to clarify the doubts of citizens regarding Cyber Crimes and registration of Complaints.*

Under the guidance of DCP (Crimes) Madam and DCsP (Madhapur, Balanagar and Shamshabad Zones) and ACP’s of nine divisions and SHO’s of 36 Police Stations, our enthusiastic Police Officers and Patrol teams have been conducting awareness programmes (on average 70 programmes conducted every month) regularly by gathering citizens at Village Community halls, Bus stands, Colleges, Working arenas, Apartments, Villas, Public Parks and Junctions etc.
