Its Bonalu, jatara time in Telangana

It’s Bonalu Jatara time from today in the Telangana state. The festival starts from the historic Golkonda fort. The people offered food to the Ammavaru god and pray for the prosperity of the region. They also want her to see that they don’t suffer from any seasonal diseases.

The Bonalu Festival shifts from one place to another on Sunday after the other. The one which takes place at lower Tankbund for Katta Maisamma and the next festival at Mahnkali in Secunderabad are very popular across the Telangana.

They offer hens and goats for sacrifice to Ammavaru so that she takes care of them. They also offer Toddy and other liquor in some areas.

The next day after Bonalu the Rangam festival is done where a lady gives us the future predictions. She talks about the lives of the people and also about the rains.

It is like future predictions for human beings. She also advises on what has to be done for the well being of human beings in the future.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has greeted Telangana people on the occasion of the beginning of the Bonalu festival celebrations.

The CM said that the Bonalu festival, which starts with presenting a Bonum’ to Goddess Jagadambika at Golconda fort, is a symbol for the ‘Ganga Jamuna Tehjeeb’ of the ‘sabbanda varnas’ (Artisan classes, Majority of people who hitherto participating in production process).

With the blessings from the Mother Goddess and the state government’s determination, the Telangana State became Annapurna (who offers food) to the entire country.

The CM prayed that Telangana people should lead a happy and contented life with prosperity, good health and wished that the Goddess’ blessings should be forever on Telangana People.
