The NRIs can now sell their agricultural properties through Dharani Portal. Thanks to the efforts of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who has taken a keen interest in setting up the Dharani portal for all the Transparency in the land dealings of the people of Telangana.
The officials are planning to add more options in order to resolve all pending issues and safeguard the ownership of the agricultural lands in Telangana.
The number of options for registration of agricultural properties have increased from 4 to more than 32 since the launch of Dharani portal. As a result, more than 95 per cent of agricultural property ownership-related issues have been solved in the State.
The NRIs have to register themselves and upload details of their agricultural properties in their native State through the Dharani portal. This would provide legal protection to the lands of NRIs and prevent others from fraudulently registering these properties in their absence.
Earlier it was mandatory to register themselves using Aadhaar number earlier, the NRIs can now register using their passport number and also the social security number of their existing country.
The NRIs can also authorise the GPA holder by uploading the relevant documents only through their login ID/username.
From November last year, registration of agricultural land-related transactions gathered momentum ever since the State government relaxed the restrictions.
The agricultural land transactions have earned over Rs 540 crore revenue for the State government.
