ln the wake of the latest surge in Covid cases, it is imperative that there should be special emphasis on the upkeep of daily sanitation in the urban local bodies, with special focus on public congregation areas like markets, bus stations, recreation centres, affected areas, etc., which should be disinfected in a comprehensive manner at regular intervals.
The Minister for IM&UD KT Rama Rao had reviewed the situation today at length and issued Spraying of disinfectants.the Commissioners of Munjcipatities / Municipal Corporations in the State are instructed to bestow their personal attention in keeping their respective cities neat and tidy by making special arrangements for this purpose.
They are specifically instructed lo toke up cleaning of all public places such as markets, bus stations, parks, commercial streets, etc with disinfectant spray 1% Sodium Hypochlorite the solution, to maintain Public Health ot the required intervals. ln, this regard, the following two activities that are (i) Spraying of disinfectants, and (ii) Clearing of garbage and regular sanitation should be the topmost priority.
Keeping in view the specific circumstances prevailing, at[ the Commissioners of Municipalities / Municipal corporations in the State are requested to ensure the general upkeep of sanitation.They are instructed to: . Take up sanitation on daily basis with a special focus on vulnerable areas; . Ensure proper arrangement in terms of staff and vehicles for Lifting of total garbage generated on daily basis without any leftovers at Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPS) / Hotspots, etc.
Ensure periodicity in the lifting of garbage from these points and disinfection of these areas immediately after the garbage is lifted; . Disinfectant spraying shall be done covering the public congregation places; . Sufficient stocks of disinfectant materials, especially spraying of sodium hypochlorite, shall be kept in sufficient quantities; .
Sanitation staff shall be equipped with protective gears, hand gloves, sanitisers, etc; . Assess and hire extra vehicles, if necessary on a need-based;. upgrade dump yard facilities / intermediate transfer station facilities so that there shall not be any issues in the total lifting of garbage; . Ensure proper facilities at graveyards like water, tightening, etc., so that there should not be any issues in the disposal of dead;
All the Commissioners of Municipalities / Municipal Corporations shall take up the sanitation activities in a campaign mode. The whole town shall be covered in a periodicity of (4) days.
