Chief Minister Sri K Chandrashekhar Rao has instructed the officials concerned to celebrate Azadi Ki Amruth Mahotstav, in a big way as the nationwide celebrations were planned by the Centre to mark the 75 years of the country’s independence, all over the State.

The CM said that the Telangana region played a unique role in the then freedom movement. Under the present self- rule, the Telangana state is making rapid strides in development and the state has a major partnership now in the country’s progress.

The CM announced that Rs 25 Crore is sanctioned for the celebrations to take place from March 12, 2021 to Aug 15, 2021, for 75 weeks. Advisor (Cultural Affairs) Sri KV Ramanachary will be Chairman of the Celebrations Committee, General Administration Department, Finance, Cultural Affairs, Municipal Administration, Panchayat Raj, Education Secretaries, Director Municipal Administration; Panchayat Raj Commissioner will be the Members while member Secretary would be the Cultural Affairs Director. The CM asked Chief Secretary Sri Somesh Kumar to issue orders in this regard.

The CM participated in a video conference held by Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotstav. On this occasion, the PM explained the importance of the programme, it’s aims and objectives. The PM wanted the state government to organise programmes for 75 weeks to infuse patriotism among the people.

After the video conference with the PM, the CM held a high-level review meeting and instructed the officials on how to go about it. In this meeting, Advisor (Cultural Affairs) Sri K V Ramanachary, Principal Secretary Sri S Narsing Rao, CM Secretary Ms Smita Sabharwal, Cultural Affairs Secretary SrI Sreenivas Raju, Director Sri Mamidi Harikrishna and others participated.

As part of the celebrations, the CM decided that on March 12 at Public Gardens in Hyderabad and Police Grounds in Warangal the inaugural programme would be held. For the Hyderabad inaugural function, CM Sri KCR would be the chief guest and for the Warangal programme, Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundarajan would be the chief guest. The CM said in the inaugural programmes, national flag would be hoisted followed by the police march-past and releasing of the Balloons in air. The CM said these programmes would be held following the Covid guidelines.

The CM said Azadi Ka Amruth Mahotstav should be held in a big way like a festival amidst peace and harmony. Tributes will be paid for the freedom fighters and martyrs. On the occasion of the 75 independence celebrations, like in Sanjeevaiah Park, national flag would be unfurled at 75 important locations in the State and through which the patriotic fervour should be depicted. The CM also wanted essay writing competitions, debates, elocutions, drawing competitions, poets gatherings and other such programmes should be conducted all over the state on the occasion.
