Is Ghulam Nabi Azad trying to contest for the Congress Chief Post? There is a talk that the Gandhi family might shift the position to Azad to save themselves from the embarrassment of losing one election after the other.

Some Congress leaders have pledged their full support to Azad in the name of felicitating him.

The members of the Gandhi family or the Congress leaders who are in the party don’t have confidence that they will be winning the coming elections in the 5 states.

In a surprise move 23 senior Congressmen who wrote a strongly-worded letter to the party’s in-charge President Sonia Gandhi to conduct polls to choose a full-time president, have assembled in Srinagar.

The occasion was to facilitate their senior colleague Ghulam Nabi Azad, whose term as Rajya Sabha member ended recently.

The program was at Azad’s native place and he also served as chief minister in the past.

The theme of the meeting was that they are determined to save the party as it is leaning towards the ‘death-bed’ to make none other than their arch political rival and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s prophecy – that is, “Congress Mukth Bharat” come true.

Though they could not pick up the courage to say it’s time for the Gandhi-clan, there was an undercurrent of the same.

The leaders earlier have set a deadline to appoint the new AICC chief. Some of them still want Rahul Gandhi as the chief. It all depends on how things change in the next 3 months time.
