100% funds released for Warangal development

Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration Arvind Kumar today said that 100% funds as released from Government Of India had been released to Warangal under Smart Cities project and that there is no diversion whatsoever. In a statement, he said that the GOI launched SMART CITY Mission in June 2015 and GWMC was included in the list of SMART CITIES in May 2016. The following are the details of funds position for the Warangal Smart Cities Project progress:

Total funds released by Govt of India – Rs.196.40 Crores-Total amount transferred to Warangal – Rs.196.40 Crores

Further Kumar said that there are more than sufficient funds available with the Warangal Corporation to meet the expenditure for works up to May, 2021 under the Project. While sufficient funds are made available to Warangal, there have been initial delays in undertaking the actual works and Issues like land acquisition, preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) have taken their time as in the case of any major projects. However, with the concerted efforts and close monitoring of the project activities by State Government, the project works have reached a take-off stage as there is visible progress of works at present, he added.

The State Government from its own budget has released following funds to GWMC for developmental works during the same period:CM Assurance Funds – Rs.109.29 Crores-Pattana Pragathi – Rs.72.87 Crores

State Government shall meet the matching grant under Smart Cities project once the works are executed and bills ready for the same, the Principal Secretary said.
