The Congress is the big loser in Telangana in 2020. Not only in Telangana but also across the country, the Congress party could make in roads into the people. It is unable to convince the common man in the long run.

It could win a few MP seats here and there including Telangana. But people who fought elections in alliance with the Congress party also miserably. MIM divided the vote banks of Congress and the BJP got benefitted in the long run.

The MIM fared better in many ways when compared to the Congress. Now there is infighting among the Congress leaders as the PCC chief in Telangana has resigned and the High Common is yet to appoint a new PCC Chief here.

Many leaders have already joined the BJP, which is rising in Telangana in a slow and steady fashion. There is a difference of opinion between the senior and Juniors in Telangana.

The death of Ahmed Patel can be considered as a big loss to the party. He was the leader who bailed out the party in times of severe crisis. Sonia Gandhi the Chief is having health problems. Rahul Gandhi the second in command is interested in foreign jaunts, rather than bothering about the revival of the party from the grass root level.

Unless Congress is able to resolve its leadership crisis, the party will continue to remain in a state of drift. The latest round of polls is yet another reminder that Congress is in dire need of deep rejuvenation.

It can no longer see itself as a mobiliser of anti-BJP parties. In fact, Congress itself is beginning to look like a bad bet for allies. It can neither transfer its votes nor make inroads into new constituencies.

Failing to correct course now would mean Congress either facing multiple splits or being reduced to a bit player on the political stage.
