Parliament member Joginipally Santosh Kumar was appointed member on Public Accounts Committee that looks into the financial aspects of Public Sector Undertakings.
The committee that has been a guiding light for improving the performance of public sector units has been functioning since 1964.
In all 15 Members of Parliament from Lok Sabha and 7 from the Upper House represent the committee.MPs of both the houses elect the committee based on preferential voting. Speaker decides the chairman of the committee.
The committee prepares and submits reports to the Union Government after scrutinising the financial health of PSUs and suggests ways to improve them.
The committed also studies CAG reports. Expressing his happiness over his appointment, Santosh said that his responsibility has increased and he would do his part to make the committee more effective.
