The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is planning to give a varnish coating to the Rs 100 note apart from colouring it with lavender. This makes it shiny and also eye-friendly. It will be stiff and shining apart from lasting long for the wear and tear.
It can also be recognised and differentiated from the bogus notes.
Despite making all the arrangements and giving the security features, the bogus notes still are under circulation as identified by the police and also the banking officials.
It is becoming extremely difficult for the government to stop the bogus notes under circulation. The RBI will see the response for this currency in circulation and then would print them in large numbers as per the requirement.
The Government says that it is not easy to print the currency and it also costs them money. However, the old notes will continue to be legal and in circulation. They will be phased out in a slow and steady manner.
The varnish coated currency will definitely last long when compared to other paper currency. The new currency will be stiff and would look as if they are plastic coated. The lavender colour is also eye-friendly.
It will have all the security features so that it cannot be duplicated. The RBI which is the central bank is making an assessment as to how many notes that it would require to be in circulation for the time being.
