K Taraka Rama Rao the working President of the TRS wants to save the lakes of Hyderabad from environmental pollution. Yes he wants to save the water bodies from the pollution of Ganesh Nimajjan. Soon after Ganesh Nimajjan, the waters will become polluted with plaster of Paris and also the chemicals and colours of the Ganesh idols. One way is to install a lot of Mud Ganesh idols and other way is to keep all the idols for Nimajjan at the lakes and should not immerse them in the waters.
The local Municipal authorities will do the nimajjan of Ganeshas in the water bodies made by them and then transport the toxic material of plaster and other residues. This will enable them to save the lakes from pollution.
This experiment was successfully done in Ahmedabad earlier and lakes were saved from the pollution which was liked by all. The idea is to leave the idols at the shores of the lake to be picked up by the local municipal workers for the nimajjan process of the idols. The Hyderabadis must also think about it to save the lakes and water bodies from pollution. They can use the temporary water bodies created by the MCH for the sake of Nimajjan.
But the real problem is that the BJP and the Bhaygayangar Ganesh Utsav Samithi will not agree for this proposal. They want the Shoba yatra to take place in Hyderabad from Balapur to Tankbudn where thousands of idols and people from Hyderabad would participate and celebrate the event.
Earlier KCR the CM has proposed that the Indira Park lake could be used for Ganesh Nimajjan. The plan was dropped after the walkers’ opposition opposed the move of the Government.
Now KTR made a different proposal. It has to be seen if they agree for it. It is good for the citizens and also the Government.
If Ahmedabad can do it, why can’t we in Hyderabad take a leaf from their book and try the same for Ganesh Chaturthi?
