SK Joshi, Chief Secretary of Telangana, paid a surprise visit to Social Welfare Residential School , Gowlidoddi today. “ It’s an eye-opener for me, the entire country should replicate the Telangana social welfare model of residential schools”, said the chief secretary.
It is truly remarkable that the students coming from humble family backgrounds are proving their prowess in academics, leadership, teaching and communication skills, he further added.
“I am particularly impressed with the ‘Green Gurus’ programme wherein students taught their peers on par with the most experienced and qualified teachers in the country. These Green Gurus should go to different schools in the state and take up teaching. They are an inspiration for the entire student community in the state, expressed the chief secretary.
The chief secretary appreciated Dr RS Praveen Kumar, Secretary and his team for introducing path-breaking programmes to unleash the inherent potential of marginalized students and turning the social welfare residential schools into talent pools. The students of Gowlidoddi proved second to none in English communication skills, he remarked. The chief secretary appreciated the teaching community for their hard work and sacrifice.
He observed various programmes being implemented by the TSWREIS and expressed his admiration for introducing programmes like coding from 8th class itself. The computer coding programme is going to be a game changer in the 21st century, he said.
