Youth for equality organisation has filed a petition opposing the reservations for the economically backward classes in the upper castes. It may be noted that the parliament has passed the bill to give reservations to the poor from the upper classes. But the members from the youth for equality are opposing the same. They are of the opinion that with this ten per cent the reservations would go up to 60 per cent. They are the 50 per cent reservations are as per caste and socioeconomic conditions. But this 10 per cent don’t fall under the category.
They are separate and come under the financial status. Both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha members have passed the bill with a good majority. Only a few people like MIM chief Owaisi have opposed this. But as expected a petition has been filed against the EBC reservations. The reservations on caste basis are to the extent of 50 per cent now. Ten per cent reservations on financial conditions have been approved by the Government. Majority of the political leaders had no other option but to approve the bill. They charged that Modi has done this due to political reasons and the elections were round the corner.
