There is some problem here and there across the state due to excess rains, but the water levels have raised and there is hope for agriculturists who were reeling under trouble with drought from time to time. The rain water has almost solved the drinking water issue of Hyderabad which was looming large on our face.
It is lucky for the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who is bogged down with several issues has got the water problem resolved by rain god. But K Taraka Rama Rao has to work hard to make the roads better and make the city free from water logging. This take quite some time. One has to clear the garbage also so that viral fevers do not spread because of this rain.
People use to joke about the Met predictions on the rain. But now we are ready to take the Met chaps very seriously. For the last few days its been raining like nobody’s business. Its so frequent and heavy, that people staying indoors are saying “rain, rain go away, in a silent mode. The commutation has become a real issue now.
Everyone wanted a great monsoon, especially since the Telangana State has been reeling under drought for 2-3 years. Hyderabad, was fast heading to drinking water crisis. Harita Haram, with crores of saplings, was launched with big fanfare but was thirsting for water to bloom into greenery last year. Now we can see the saplings are safe, if they are present.
So, the clouds decided to bless us.the result is that we find ourselves with copious downpours. Net result, the dead nalas, rivulets, drains everything is flowing with gay abandon.
Be it the slum or low lying areas or the so called hitech, Cyberabad, the rains have turned out to be a great leveller. The suffering is there, the degree varies. The urban road infrastructure is giving in in many places.
Perhaps, its high time the TRS Government which is promising Bangaru (golden) Telangana, will emulate the rain gods, to do atleast enough to strengthen civic amenities in the near future. It is time that the Minister for Municipal Administration Taraka Rama Rao and our Union Minister Venkaiah grab this opportunity to develop the city and state in a big way.
The immediate challenge looming is to clear the mess, prevent infections like dengue, malaria and chikunguniya or diarrhoea, once the rains, due to low pressure or cyclonic conditions wean away. Lets hope all this will finally lead to Bangaru Telangana as dreamt by our dynamic leader KCR.
