Padma Lakshmi the popular author and host of Top Chef programme said that she was raped at 16 on the new year day by a man whom she was dating. Padma revealed that it was severe pain and that there was no pleasure. She had no guts to report or reveal the experience to her parents or report anyone over the matter.
She was reacting to the President Trumps comment that if Dr Blaseys allegations were true she should have reported it long back or made a complaint. Here Padma wants to explain that she could not reveal it for a long time and she did not think it was a sexual experience. It was a hard pain. She did not tell the parents also about it.
Padma also recollected that when she was at the age of 7 one of her relatives touched her between legs and she was forced to touch him between the legs. Padma now things that she should have reported the rape at that point in time and that the rapist should have been punished.
Now Padma has instructed her daughter to yell out loudly or tell others if she feels bad or uncomfortable about others action. She told her daughter not to keep quiet at any point in time.
Padma said that she has nothing to gain by revealing this. But one must speak out and if dont the men will keep hurting the women and girls. So speak out.
