MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao made a surprise inspection of the 2 BHK Dignity houses which are under construction at Kollur, located in the outskirts of Hyderabad, on August 11, 2018.
As part of the 2BHK scheme, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is constructing a record 15,660 housing units in 124 acres. The High-rise Model Township will provide housing to 70,000 people.
“The state government is constructing a new township at Kollur which is going to be a model township for the Country. This is the first time a state govt is taking up construction at such a large scale in one place,” said Minister Rama Rao.“The poor will live with dignity,” he added.
Talking about the facilities, he said, “We are setting up all the amenities which are required for a municipality. This housing site will stand as a model in the country.” A sewage treatment plant will also be set up for the township, he added.
In three shifts, 3,500 labor workers and 400 officials are working for 24 hours on this prestigious project. “Along with Minister, we are constantly supervising the work through CCTV cameras which are set up at the housing site, said the officials.
Minister Rama Rao advised the officials to set up a special engineering team to supervise the ongoing construction works. He asked officials to maintain high quality in the construction works and also instructed the officials to provide complete safety and security to the workers involved in the construction works. Bonthu Rammohan, Mayor, Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner, GHMC and Bharati Hollikeri, Additional Commissioner, Housing, GHMC accompanied the Minister.
