A quarter-century of flights belonging to Ari India got delayed this noon due to a technical glitch it is reported. The Maharaja carrier is reeling under losses and it is not doing well. The government planned disinvestment and now it wants to seel away the white elephant. But so far no one came forward to participate in the bidding process. People who tried to revive it failed miserably.
Adding to this today 25 flights to various destinations got delayed and the staff blamed it on the software. They said that it is due to the malfunction of the computers. This was reported by the passengers via twitter. SITA is the service provider for IT to Air India it is learnt. Because of this software glitch, the services were handled manually and everything got delayed in the process. Most of the delay occurred at the Indira Gandhi International airport.
The carrier has always earned a bad name from the passengers and it looks like it cannot be revived further in the process. Either it has to be sold out or it has to be closed. But many of the VVIPs prefer this Maharaja carrier. Running in losses and unable to pay the salaries properly is a different matter.
