Rohit Sharma hit his third double hundred in ODI cricket in a sensational fashion against Sri Lanka during the second one-day international in Mohali.
The right-handed hitman became the first player on the planet to cross the 200-run mark thrice in ODI’s and in the process surpassed multiple records as India set a target of 393 runs. Sharma ended his innings on an unbeaten 208, thereby becoming the first captain to score a double ton in the history of cricket.
Co-incidentally, among his three double tons, Sharma has scored two against the Lankans. The Mumbai right-hander, who was recalled to the Test team, got to the coveted double off 151 balls in grand style in the final over of India’s innings.
In his breathtaking knock, he hit 13 fours and 12 sixes. While Rohit got off to a slow start what is astounding is his quick rate of conversion. In one over he hit Suranga Lakmal for four sixes and rocketed from to 116 to 140. After scoring his hundred in 90 balls, Sharma brought up his next hundred in just 36 balls.
