The situation in the country is not that conducive for BJP to go for polls. It is difficult in Gujarat. But Modi still talks on the formula simultaneous polls. He is not bothered by the outcome.

Speaking on the occasion of the Constitution Day, Narendra Modi also raised the pitch for simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. He said the elections had become a costly affair for the country.

Modi contended that frequent elections to state assemblies keep the nation in poll mode round the year affecting decision making.

The country has had a good experience of conducting simultaneous elections but the practice was done away with due out internal weaknesses, Modi said.

The prime minister stated that separation of powers is a fundamental concept of the Constitution, The which could not be violated.

He said, “The legislative should be free to frame laws, the executive should be free to take any action and the judiciary should be free to interpret the laws enacted by legislatures.”

“These questions are not only before the judiciary or the people sitting in the government but before every pillar of the country on which crores of people have based their expectations,” Modi said.
