Two sisters in China have started selling packets of fresh air from the Tibetan Plateau, at the cost of 15 yuan that is around ₹150 per bag.
The sisters ask customers whether they would like the air to be sourced from mountains or valleys, and say they hope to raise awareness about the environment.
They say they have managed to sell over 100 such bags. However, they have been criticised for using plastic bags.
Interestingly, a company called ‘Mountain Air From Switzerland’ sells jars of fresh Swiss mountain air for $167 (around ₹10,000). The air comes with the exact GPS coordinates of where it was collected as well as a certificate of authenticity.
The company, which ships air around the world, says buyers will “feel the freshness and vitality” in the sealed jars.
