M Venkaiah Naidu, the new Vice President of India is going to be different from his predecessors in dressing aspect. He will represent the Telugu style of dressing and there will be no change.
We have been witnessing Presidents and Vice Presidents in a typical attire – wearing full suit or mostly “bandh-gala” Jodhpuri suit.
But, Venkaiah has decided that he is not going to change his present typical Telugu attire –white shirt and lungi with kanduva on shoulders, which he has been using for several decades.
“I am not going to change my dress in whatever position I am. I want to maintain my own style,” Venkaiah said in Delhi.
We can see a Telugu-looking Vice President after a long time. The only image that we remember a President or Vice President in dhoti was Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. But, he was wearing a bandh-gala suit over a dhoti!
