6 Mini Airports will come up in Telangana

Yes, the lucky number of KCR the CM of Telangana is 6. The centre has agreed on the proposal of the State Government to start 6 Mini Airports in the state of Telangana.

CM KCR along with Minister KCR has been following up with the Central Government over the construction of Mini Airports from time to time.

The Airport Authority along with the state Government officials will take the proposal forward and the construction will be taken up on a fast track basis.

The proposed domestic airport sites are located in Adilabad district, Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, Basantnagar in Peddapalli district, Mamnoor in Warangal Urban district, Jakranpally in Nizamabad district, Devarkadra in Mahabubnagar district.

Telangana has only one operational airport in Shamshabad for commercial air operations while another airport in Begumpet is being used for emergency purposes and VIP movement.

The Union government has also been requested to allow the operation of mini aircraft with a seating capacity of 18 to 20 persons at these proposed airports where it would not be feasible for landing or take-off of bigger aircraft.

The AAI, in its report, said of the proposed six sites, Mamnoor, Adilabad and Jakranpally are ideal for the full-fledged airport while the remaining — Basantnagar, Devarkadra and Bhadradri-Kothagudem — are not.
