Five Ministers today have reviewed the Medigadda project where the pillars have sunk in recent times just before the elections in Telangana.
Ministers Sreedhar Babu, Srinivas Reddy, Uttam Kumar, Ponnam Prabhar, and Komati Reddy have visited the place and took stock of the situation.
The local officials have given the presentation on the present situation of the barrage to the Ministers here in front of the media. The BRS leaders have stated in the Assembly that they were ready for any kind of probe in these projects.
The ENC said that Kaleshwaram has a storage capacity of around 141 TMC. Around one lakh acres has come under the irrigation with the help of Kaleshwaram he explained.
The Maharashtra people are objecting to the further expansion of the irrigation projects the ENC stated. 5000 Megawatt power is required for lifting 2 TMC of water the ENC said.
National Dam safety officials stated that it was an issue of weak foundation. The dam has sunk for around 1.2 meters down he said. The gates have got damaged in the sunken area he explained.
Further studies are going on and final findings are yet to come he stated. When it comes to Annaram barrage seepages were noticed in four areas he said. Grouting has to be done and water has been reduced for the same the ENC said.
Three tiers will be relaid and the foundation has to be stabilized for this diamond cutting has to be done the ENC stated. We are alarmed and deeply concerned said Minister Uttam.
The project may become inoperational if more issues are found in other pillars the Minster opined. The Bomb theory is wrong the Minister opined.
As of now, the project costed 1,27000 crore the minister said. 13000 crore will be the burden for a year he stated. Around 8-9000 crore bills are pending from the last government he said.
The project would have been done with just gravity help one of the ministers said. It is like a Tuqlaq decision to take the water further and then pump the same back. This is a foolish project the Ministers opined.
This is nothing but waste of money they opined.
