36 dead in J&K Doda

Thirty-six people died and 19 others were injured after a bus fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda today.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh confirmed in a post on X about the 36 deaths and said that out of those injured six people were said to be in a critical condition.

Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his condolences and in a statement on ‘X’ said that the local administration is actively engaged in the rescue operation at the site of the accident.Lt Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives.

“Extremely pained by the loss of lives in a tragic bus accident in Assar, Doda. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families & wish for a speedy recovery of those injured in the accident.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti condoled the loss of lives in a post on X.

“Deeply shocked & saddened about the tragic road accident at Assar in Doda. Deepest condolences to the families of those feared dead & hope the administration expedites rescue operations,” Mufti posted on X.
