27 killed while 29 are still missing: Delhi Mundka fire

A blaze engulfed a three-story building in west Delhi’s Mundka, resulting in at least 27 people losing their lives, with several more critically injured.

Also, a total of 29 people–24 women and five men–are missing, the Delhi Police said.

The police have already arrested two people in connection with the incident, which took place near the busy Mundka station of the Delhi Metro.Delhi Fire Services Chief Atul Garg Saturday said that four-storey building gutted in a massive fire near Mundka metro station had no fire NOC and clearance from the MCD. “It seems the entire building was illegal,” Garg said.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced compensation for families of those who died in the fire in Mundka on Friday.

Those who have sustained injuries will be given Rs 50,000 as compensation. Kejriwal has also ordered a magisterial probe into the incident.

At least 27 people died and several others were injured when fire engulfed a four-storey commercial building near Mundka Metro station in Outer Delhi.

The Delhi Police has arrested the owners of Cofe Impex Pvt Ltd, which manufactures CCTV cameras, since it was the office of Cofe Impex where the fire broke out. “We have detained company owners Harish Goel and Varun Goel,” said DCP Sameer Sharma.
