Ten women were sent back from the Ayyappa Temple as they were underage. The Temple is opening for the first time this evening after the 5 member bench headed by CJI Gogoi referred the matter to a larger bench comprising of 7 judges.

Trupthi Desai the women activist who was fighting for he tem];e entry said that she would have the darshan of Ayyappa after taking the protection from the Government.

The state government said that they would honour the court verdict and allow the women for the darshan of Ayyappa. The Temple board members clarified that they would protect the sanctity of the Ayyappa Temple at any cost and would not allow the women for Darshan.

They said that the teen and young aged women will not be allowed while old women will be allowed for the darshan. This is one judgement where the bench of 5 members led by CJI could not give a decision.

The Government, on the other hand, has posted thousands of police in and around the Temple to maintain peace and calm at Sabarimala Temple. The Temple was opened this evening and the priests entered the sanctum Sanctorium at around 5 PM this evening.
