The Parliament gave a direction to my political vision as I got to learn a lot from the serious discussions held in both Houses of the Parliament,&#8221; he said, adding, he attended the first session of the Parliament on July 22, 1969.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;For the last 37 years, I have been a part of five Rajya Sabhas, four times from Bengal and once from Gujarat,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-99783 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Indira-Gandhi-2.jpg\" alt=\"      Pranab thanks one and all\" width=\"541\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">President Mukherjee remembered the former prime ministers of India, including late Indira Gandhi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The Constitution represents the unity of the 125 crore people of India,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">President Mukherjee expressed happiness over the fact that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime was launched during his tenure and disappointment over the constant downfall of the Parliament&#8217;s stature.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Pranab Mukherjee thanked everybody present in the Hall, most particularly the Parliament for &#8216;creating&#8217; him. &#8220;If I claim I am the creation of this Parliament, perhaps it will not be treated as immodesty.
