{"id":98569,"date":"2017-07-17T11:00:23","date_gmt":"2017-07-17T05:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/?p=98569"},"modified":"2017-07-17T11:01:27","modified_gmt":"2017-07-17T05:31:27","slug":"27-lenses-found-in-eye","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/27-lenses-found-in-eye\/","title":{"rendered":"27 lenses found in eye !"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">British surgeons were prepping a woman for cataract surgery when a trainee ophthalmologist found something horrific \u2014 a \u201cblueish mass\u201d in one eye that the doctors had taken for a cataract was actually a mass of contact lenses stuck in her eye.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The \u201cblueish mass\u201d was causing the 67-year-old patient discomfort which she had attributed to dry eye and old age.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Eye specialists initially discovered 17 lenses \u201cbound together by mucus\u201d, before a further examination revealed that another 10 lenses were stuck in her eye, Channel media reported.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-98571 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/cataract.jpg\" alt=\"Woman found with 27 contact lenses lodged in one eye\" width=\"720\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The case occurred in November last year but was reported in the British Medical Journal this month.In an article in the journal, doctors said the patient had worn monthly disposable lenses for 35 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cShe had poorer vision in the right eye and deep set eyes, which might have contributed to the unusually large number of retained foreign bodies,\u201d the article said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt was such a large mass. All the 17 contact lenses were stuck together.
