{"id":95016,"date":"2017-06-29T13:54:24","date_gmt":"2017-06-29T08:24:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/?p=95016"},"modified":"2017-06-29T13:54:24","modified_gmt":"2017-06-29T08:24:24","slug":"7-hours-will-kill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/7-hours-will-kill\/","title":{"rendered":"More than 7 hours will kill you"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Many recent studies have looked at the effects of sedentary time on health, with some experts warning that more than seven hours of inactivity a day can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, some cancers, and an early death, even if people are physically active at other times of the day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The study, carried out by the University of Edinburgh\u2019s Physical Activity for Health Research Centre, gathered data on 14,367 people in Scotland taken from the 2012-14 Scottish Health Survey, to look at how age and sex affected weekday and weekend sedentary time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-95017 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/sitting-computer-1.jpg\" alt=\"More than 7 hours will kill you\" width=\"584\" height=\"358\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Defined as time spent in any waking activity done while sitting or reclined, sedentary time includes working, eating, reading, watching TV, or spending time on a computer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The results of the new research found that men aged 45 to 54 spend on average 7.8 hours per weekday sitting down, compared with 7.4 hours for the over-75s.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Time spent sitting at work is the main reason for their sedentary time. The team also found that only the youngest group of men \u2013 16 to 24-year-olds \u2013 are significantly less sedentary than the over-75s on weekdays.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Most of the time spent sedentary in this age group is spent in front of a TV or screen. At the weekend, those aged 25 to 54 were the least sedentary, sitting for between 5.2 and 5.7 hours a day, and in contrast the over 75s were the most sedentary, at 7.3 to 7.4 hours a day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-95018\" src=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/140616-sitting-jms-1720_2fc11aed300da2b78336261df3736ffe.nbcnews-fp-1200-800.jpg\" alt=\"More than 7 hours will kill you\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/140616-sitting-jms-1720_2fc11aed300da2b78336261df3736ffe.nbcnews-fp-1200-800.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/140616-sitting-jms-1720_2fc11aed300da2b78336261df3736ffe.nbcnews-fp-1200-800-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, the researchers also found that men spend less time in front of a screen as they get older, with women peaking in middle-age.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The results now replace previous findings that older adults are the most sedentary age group in the UK and highlights the potential health risks of excessive sitting at work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Many recent studies have looked at the effects of sedentary time on health, with some experts warning that more than seven hours of inactivity a day can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, some cancers, and an early death, even if people are physically active at other times of the day.
