Under Rao\u2019s governance, the Rupee was made convertible on trade account.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The idea of a nuclear test in India was first mooted by Narsimha Rao, though it was implemented by Atal Bihari Vyajpayee.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-94880 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/download-4.jpg\" alt=\"PV the Chanakya of Modern India \" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rao played a vital role in the freedom struggle against the Nizam who ruled Hyderabad during the 1940s.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He along with his cousin, edited a Telugu weekly magazine called Kakatiya Patrika from 1948 to 1955.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A number of ministers across parties, including BJP leader Subramanian Swamy supported Rao\u2019s name for the Bharat Ratna.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He initiated the \u2018look East\u2019 policy. It was during his tenure that India first recognized and revived its links with South-East Asia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Narasimha Rao was the first PM of India to lead a minority government for a full term.
