{"id":83258,"date":"2017-05-12T12:26:16","date_gmt":"2017-05-12T06:56:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/?p=83258"},"modified":"2017-05-12T12:26:16","modified_gmt":"2017-05-12T06:56:16","slug":"first-womb-transplant-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/first-womb-transplant-india\/","title":{"rendered":"First womb transplant in India"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a major step that could help women with uterine-related conditions get pregnant, the first ever uterine transplant in India is all set to take place at a hospital in Pune next week.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to latest reports, the Galaxy Care Laparoscopy Institute (GCLI) in Pune will perform the country&#8217;s uterine transplant on May 18.The hospital will carry out the procedures on three women with different uterine or womb complications to help them try for successful pregnancies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The hospital, which has the license to conduct womb transplants for a period of five years granted, was given a go ahead for the procedures by the Directorate of Health Services, Maharashtra.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-83260 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/wo.jpg\" alt=\"wo\" width=\"830\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/wo.jpg 830w, https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/wo-500x280.jpg 500w, https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/wo-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 830px) 100vw, 830px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The hospital will conduct the first three transplants &#8216;free of cost&#8217; assisted by a 12-member team of gynaecologists, endocrinologists and IVF specialists.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Apart from pune&#8217;s GCLI, Bengaluru&#8217;s Milann Fertility Centre, which received an approval for the procedures from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), will also perform womb transplants in June on two women born without a uterus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The reports say that Dr Kamini Rao, Medical Director, Milann, the Swedish team from the University of Gothenburg who conducted the trial will be on board for the procedures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a major step that could help women with uterine-related conditions get pregnant, the first ever uterine transplant in India is all set to take place at a hospital in Pune next week.
