The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that hypertension is responsible for at least 51% of deaths due to stroke and 45% of deaths due to heart disease.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For the study, published in the American Journal of Physiology \u2014 Endocrinology and Metabolism, McDonough looked at population, interventional and molecular mechanism studies that investigated the effects of dietary sodium and potassium on hypertension.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-75683 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/1296x400_Eating_with_High_Blood_Pressure-9-Coffee.jpg\" alt=\"Vegs and coffee for lowering BP\" width=\"1296\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/1296x400_Eating_with_High_Blood_Pressure-9-Coffee.jpg 1296w, https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/1296x400_Eating_with_High_Blood_Pressure-9-Coffee-768x237.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1296px) 100vw, 1296px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To understand the beneficial effects of potassium on hypertension, McDonough reviewed recent studies in rodent models.
