Weighing 100kg, with a diameter of 53cm and a thickness of 3cm, its value is estimated at almost \u20ac3.8m (\u00a33.3m).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-72678 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/603428_thump.jpg\" alt=\"2nd largest Gold coin stolen\" width=\"660\" height=\"495\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On loan to the Bode Museum from the private collection of a German property investor, the coin used to be the heaviest in the world until it was superseded by the \u201cAustralian Kangaroo One Tonne\u201d gold coin in 2011.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since December 2010, the Big Maple Leaf has been displayed in a bulletproof cabinet at the museum on Berlin\u2019s museum island, located in the part of the Spree river running through the Mitte district.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Posters on the outside of the neo-baroque building currently advertise a show called Muse macht Moneten (roughly: \u201cBe creative and get rich\u201d), which may well have served as inspiration for the spectacular heist.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Even in the era of cybercrime, methods more familiar to black-and-white heist movies never fall out of fashion.
