{"id":67725,"date":"2017-03-11T17:52:08","date_gmt":"2017-03-11T12:22:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/?p=67725"},"modified":"2017-03-11T17:52:08","modified_gmt":"2017-03-11T12:22:08","slug":"its-hard-work-of-70-mps-in-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/its-hard-work-of-70-mps-in-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Its hard work of 70 MPs in UP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">People might wonder how could BJP cross 300 seats in UP.The Bharatiya Janata Party\u2019s campaign began in Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls where it had left off in the general elections of 2014, winning 71 of the state\u2019s 80 parliamentary constituencies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is clear that the anti-Congress wave of 2014 organically converted into a Modi Wave by Modi and his MPs along with the workers in Uttar Pradesh in 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">First-time voters, as well as the traditional vote base of the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party \u2013 the backward castes and Dalits &#8212; had voted for Narendra Modi in 2014. The young voters were with Modi this time too.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And to garner the backward castes vote \u2013 almost 50 per cent of the state\u2019s voting population \u2013 the party had in 2014 participated in caste associations, made members of this community its political faces but without losing sight of its Hindutva agenda in the wake of the Muzaffarnagar riots while constantly stating that the SP-BSP had ruined the state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-67726\" src=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/modi-in-rohaniya.jpg\" alt=\"Its hard work of 70 MPs in UP\" width=\"578\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/modi-in-rohaniya.jpg 500w, https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/modi-in-rohaniya-240x172.jpg 240w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 578px) 100vw, 578px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The party\u2019s strategy was and has been to belittle the SP and the BSP among its popular vote base, reminding them of the prudence of voting someone to power who \u2018has not done much for them\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This time too, the BJP applied that inclusive strategy, concentrating on the non-Yadav Other Backward Classes, appointing almost 40 per cent of its candidates from that pool.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The party gave several seats to its two allies \u2013 the Apna Dal and Suheldev Bharat Samaj Party. These two parties are backed by backward castes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The party also kept its Hindutva pitch less shrill in the overall political rhetoric during campaign. It must have learnt its lesson from Bihar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-67727\" src=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/india-vote-election-politics_755dbcae-060f-11e7-a2a9-8cc6a4d5973b.jpg\" alt=\"Its hard work of 70 MPs in UP\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/india-vote-election-politics_755dbcae-060f-11e7-a2a9-8cc6a4d5973b.jpg 960w, https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/india-vote-election-politics_755dbcae-060f-11e7-a2a9-8cc6a4d5973b-500x280.jpg 500w, https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/india-vote-election-politics_755dbcae-060f-11e7-a2a9-8cc6a4d5973b-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And to top it all, was that one national issue that dominated both the Assembly campaign and mass sentiment in Uttar Pradesh \u2013 demonetisation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The merits of Modinomics may be debatable on this issue, but the results show that Modipolitics has definitely won on this score.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While the SP-BSP was at pains to explain to all that demonetisation was \u2018all pain and no gain\u2019, the BJP underplayed the \u2018pain\u2019 and touted the \u2018gain\u2019 as Modi\u2019s fight against corruption &#8212; to give the poor its rightful share in the country\u2019s growth story.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The sense of class-revenge demonetisation invoked may have just seen the BJP through in Uttar Pradesh in 2017.All this will add to 2019 and Modi will come back again at the centre.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>People might wonder how could BJP cross 300 seats in UP.The Bharatiya Janata Party\u2019s campaign began in Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls where it had left off in the general elections of 2014, winning 71 of the state\u2019s 80 parliamentary constituencies.
