Age is no bar for singing. Our great singer SP Balasubrahmanyam has proved that.<\/p>\n

But where is Lata Mangeshkar the great singer. There was no movie without the songs of Latha and Asha. Now they are missing. It is like fast food days. So many singers , so much of technology. So many recordings.<\/p>\n

But why is she not singing? She is still remembered for her Rang Rang Rangeela Re for Rahman and RGV.<\/p>\n

After keeping away from singing for two years due to ill health, veteran Lata Mangeshkar \u2014 who\u2019s been singing professionally since the age of 13 \u2014 is back to recording. And the 87-year-old says she was eagerly awaiting this moment.
\nI\u2019ve been missing my singing. The last two years have not been too kind to my health. But this year, I\u2019m far better. I\u2019ve returned to recording with my rendition of the Rama Raksha Strotra . I\u2019ve wanted to sing it for the longest time. Now I am finally doing it…Lata says.<\/p>\n

The satisfaction of singing devotional numbers is on another level. My two albums of bhajans, Ram Ratan Dhan Payo, and Ram Shyam Gun Gaan (the latter with Pandit Bhimsen Joshi), have been embraced by generations. I feel blessed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last week, she recorded two couplets. \u201cSo far, I\u2019ve done two shlokas under the supervision of composer Mayuresh Pai.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mangeshkar singles out the Meera Bhajans she has sung for her composer-brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar as some of the toughest. \u201cIt\u2019s always a challenge to sing for my brother. My brother\u2019s compositions in Chala Vahi Des and also Meera Sur Kabeera are my favourite.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among the bhajans she has sung in films, Mangeshkar loves Allah Tero Naam and the title song from Satyam Shivam Sundaram . \u201cI\u2019m again singing in my favourite genre. It makes me happy,\u201d Latha concludes.<\/p>\n
