{"id":47424,"date":"2016-12-26T09:25:15","date_gmt":"2016-12-26T09:25:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/?p=47424"},"modified":"2016-12-26T09:25:15","modified_gmt":"2016-12-26T09:25:15","slug":"chopper-tyagi-gets-bail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/chopper-tyagi-gets-bail\/","title":{"rendered":"Chopper Tyagi gets bail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Air Force Chief SP Tyagi, arrested earlier this month over his alleged role in the irregularities in the Rs 3,600 crore AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal, was on Monday granted bail on surety of Rs 2 lakh.<\/p>\n<p>The court said that Tyagi can\u2019t leave town without court permission and also asked him not to get in touch with the witnesses.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-47426\" src=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/tyagi-2.jpg\" alt=\"tyagi\" width=\"709\" height=\"394\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tyagi is accused of receiving kick-backs in the multi-million AgustaWestland chopper deal case.<\/p>\n<p>The agency had also arrested Gautam Khaitan, a Delhi-based lawyer and Sanjeev Tyagi alias Julie Tyagi in connection with the case.<\/p>\n<p>Tyagi has denied allegations that he had influenced the 3,600 crore deal for VVIP helicopters in favour of Italy&#8217;s AgustaWestland during is tenure as the IAF chief.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-47427\" src=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/382.jpg\" alt=\"tyagi\" width=\"646\" height=\"388\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTotal deal amount in AgustaWestland was Rs 3,767 crore and bribe amount was 12 per cent of main amount,\u201d the CBI had said.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past few years, the retired IAF chief has been repeatedly grilled for several hours by the investigating agency over his links with the middlemen who helped broker the deal. He had also been quizzed about the source of funding for his post-retirement trip to Italy.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-47428\" src=\"https:\/\/greattelangaana.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/resizer.jpg\" alt=\"tyagi\" width=\"645\" height=\"430\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, the Milan Court of Appeals \u2014 equivalent of an Indian High Court \u2014 had given details of how alleged bribes were paid by helicopter-maker Finmeccanica and AgustaWestland to Indian officials through middlemen to clinch the deal. The order mentioned the name of Tyagi at several points.
